April 2012

Spring has sprung!!! Which will be followed by the dreaded ” Muddy Season ” !! Oh well we will get through it as we always do.

Brick and Raven are now 6 months old and are ready to hit the Big Dog show ring. These two pups have been doing the Matches and have been taking breed and placing in Group everytime. Raven even took a Group 1 with some pretty impressive competition, but like her mother, Rosie, she is very showy.

Jillee and Eppy were bred in Feb. Only Jillee caught and is only carrying a few pups, all are spoken for. We will try Eppy again, hopefully we will have better luck next time. Love this girl and really would like to have a pup from her.
Mark on your calendar for the long weekend in Sept. to attend the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Canada National Specialty, which will be held in Halifax. This promises to be a weekend of Heaven for Berner lovers. Events include conformation, obedience, Rally and draft. Bernova will be there with a few of the gang, hope to see you there!!

Feb 2012

Well as the saying goes, “Time flies when you are having fun” and boy has the time flown!!! Not sure where to start has it has been awhile since my last post, so I will start with the most recent and work backward from there.
The past weekend, 11-12 was the Halifax Kennel Club’s show. I didn’t have anyone in enough coat to enter in conformation, but on the Friday night before the show there was a Canine Good Neighbor Test offered. My boy, Bruin had never tried this, so I said what the heck. Well my boy didn’t let me down and passed no problem. So we now get to add more intials after his name.

In October we had a beautiful litter of pups born to Rosie, two girls and three boys. The sire of these pups is a lovely boy from Boston, Crimson Harvest’s Autumn Moon, aka Austyn. I ended up keeping a girl and a boy from this litter, and I am tickled pink with them!! You can see pictures of them on my gallery page. Their names are Brick and Raven. These pups have been getting great feedback from judges at local Sanction Matches, saying that it was a close call between the two of them, but Brick is the eye catcher. He has gone on to get Group placements in these matches.

Got word in the Fall that in September 2012, the long weekend, the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Canada will be holding their National Specialty in conjunction with the Halifax Kennel Club Shows. This is the first time ever the National Specialty will be held in Nova Scotia. Should be a great time, and sooo close to home!

Plans are in the works to breed Eppy and Jillee this Spring. Really excited to see what we will get from these two sweet girls.

April 2011

In February we took Bruin to the Hfx Show to try for his Rally Novice title.  Under trying circumstances for him, he got two legs toward his title.  The following month in March we went to the Truro Show and on the first day he got another qualifying score to attain his title.  Well done Bruin!

November 2010

Bruin has started Rally Obedience classes, and is enjoying being back to work. We plan on him making his debut in the Rally Ring at the Spring show in Halifax.

September 2010

And summer is gone!!!!!  We have been so busy , I haven’t had a moment to up-date the site.  In June my other passion took priority, showing my mini horse.  We went to a show on PEI , first one in two years for my Toby and he was awesome!!!  Five classes, three first, two seconds.  The following weekend we took Berners, Jillee and Eppy to the Valley for a Canine Good Neighbour test.  Both passed with glowing reports.  July was back in the show ring with my mini.  Another successful show.  July brought good results for Rosie from OFA, Good hips and normal elbows. August back to the mini ring, again Toby shone.  Sept 1st weekend during a hurricane, Rosie and Lucy in the ring at Halifax Kennel Club show. Rosie finished off her CH in style with a BOB.   Now maybe I can slow down and get back into a normal routine…. HAHAHAHA …..I am dreaming!!!

May 2010

Well here we are at the end of May, where has the time gone!!!

The last shows we attended were the four the Dartmouth Kennel Club offered in May.   Another great weekend for the Bernova Bunch.  Lucy, Bernova Call Me Madame, won BOB on Sat morning to give her three more points which puts her at 5.  Diane and Lucy have been coming together really well.  On Sunday, Rosie, Bernova Don’t Look Now took BOB both shows which put her at 9.  One more to go for the little girl with tons of attitude.   Just goes to show big is not always better!!!  I will start health clearances on Rosie soon and will be looking for a suitable boyfriend for her.

We have started work on the barn to build kennels in one end of it, not sure how my mini horse will like sharing his house with the Berners, but with the future plans I have we will definitely need them.  Exciting times ahead!!!

March 2010

Eppy is now CH. Indian Hill’s Climb Every Mountain v Bernova !!!!  She got her one point needed at Truro to finish.  Both days she went BOS.  Lucy, Bernova Call me Madam, came home with her two point major.  Well done Diane and Lucy!!!!  We are very proud!

March 2010

Where did the time go!!  Well to begin with the puppies all went to their new homes in Feb, and everyone is doing great!!!  Two of the boys, Eddy and Ben will hopefully make their show debut this year.

At the Halifax Kennel Club show in Feb. Eppy picked up four more points to take her to nine.  She is entered in the Truro show in March, hopefully she will finish there, then on to the States to get her AKC  championship.

Now that the warmer weather is here we are getting back into some sort of work routine.  Jillee is looking forward to continue her draft work and Eppy will start with her draft training.  I would like to get Jillee’s Versatility Award this year, so we have a busy year ahead of us.

January 2010

The pups are now five weeks old and as you can tell growing very well.  Pictured are sets of two, males on the left,  females on the right.  Hard to get them sitting and posing as they don’t stop moving for very long!!!  Busy, busy, busy, but adorable!!!!

December 2009

Pups are now two and a half weeks old and growing!!!  Jillee has her paws busy with this crew !!!

Bernova is very pleased to announce the arrival of our beautiful ” E ” Litter.  Jillee is busy with 5 girls and 5 boys, born on Dec.3.   Babies and Mom are doing great!!   I will have updates and pictures following their growth.  The picture below is all ten , though it only looks like eight if you count bodies, but count tails!!!
